About Mo RoccaMo Rocca, former correspondent for Comedy Central's The Daily Show, is known for his wacky, tongue-in-cheek news reports and hilarious commentary. He is also regularly seen on VH1's I Love The shows, Today Show, CNN, Fox News, and The Tonight Show, and he can be heard on NPR's Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me. Since February 14, 2007, he has blogged at morocca180.com.
I grew up in a middle-class family in the heartland of Bethesda, Maryland. I rarely went outside. Instead I danced around my living room and dreamed ... of an electronic network of computers that would include nearly every university, government, and research facility in the world. This "internet" would also include many commercial sites and most importantly would allow me to watch other loners dance around their respective living rooms.
All the Presidents' Pets, Rocca's book, is a satirical tour de force of investigative journalism that blows the lid off a long-held secret in Washington: the presidents' pets are more than just photo ops. Equal parts All the President's Men, Dutch and Charlotte's Web, the book is the journalistic watershed event of the year. At the podium, Rocca delivers his uniquely informed commentary on current news events and the coverage of them by the "mainstream media," and takes audiences behind the scenes of America's most popular news satire program with never-before-seen clips from The Daily Show and his other television appearances. He also provides the inside story of the pivotal role that presidential pets play in politics, and shines a klieg light on the complacent Washington press corps that missed the hot story. Rocca began his career in TV as a writer and producer for the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning PBS children's series Wishbone. Rocca went on to write and produce for other kids series, including ABC's Pepper Ann and Nickelodeon's The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, a pre-school series combining the whimsy of Seuss characters with the magic of Henson puppetry. He served as Consulting Editor at the adult men's magazine Perfect 10. Doing "pre-school by day and porn by night" helped prepare Rocca for the broad range of topics he'd soon tackle on The Daily Show. On The Daily Show, he profiled eccentrics ranging from a man so obsessed with First Ladies that he dresses up as Florence Harding (wife of Warren) to a husband and wife pet mummification team. The former president and writer of Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Theatricals, Rocca is no stranger to the stage. His acting credits include the role of "Doody" in the Southeast Asia Tour of Grease. He is currently playing Vice Principal Douglas Panch in the Broadway production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
